Prevent Skin Cancer: Stop Sunburns on Feet!

In the summer season,  everyone wants to just spend the hot sunny days at the beach or in the pool as well as relax on the chairs, but the exposure of the sun on the feet can be very deadly and nasty when noticed. It is called the cancer of the feet from exposure of the sun and not putting sunscreen on the feet, which is one of the spots that people pay less attention too. Melanomas of the feet are unnoticed at an early stage. Most importantly, all of us are at risk of getting melanoma of the skin in the feet, but certain factors make you at risk.  People who have fair skin with freckles, blond or red hair, blistering sunburns before age of eighteen, and numerous moles have a greater risk of skin cancer.

For melanoma, people should look for brown or black spots on the skin or even under and near toenails, but sometimes the spots can be red, pink, or white. The symptoms of melanoma are known as ABCD:

A. meaning asymmetrical or abnormal and uneven shape

B. meaning irregular borders with ragged or blurred edges

C. is for color since its mix of colors instead of uniform

D. meaning diameter gets bigger and larger than moles

Since melanoma has many symptoms and noticeable at later stages, it is strongly recommended that everyone wear sunscreen. If you see something suspicious on your feet, you should get it looked at immediately.   For those long distance runners, a good sun block is Bullfrog SP 100 (especially great for you Iron Men).
